Since the 1950s there’ve been 9.1 billion metric tons of plastic made. And we’ve thrown most of it away. A part of that mountain of plastic which is not recycled (9%) nor incinerated (12%), has found its way into the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.? This is is an accumulation of about 8 Million tons dumped in the ocean every year.?
